Originating for the Dominican Republic, San Domingan Rosewood is also called San Domingo Rosewood & San Dominican Rosewood and regularly used in the manufacture of musical instruments & doors.

The heartwood of San Domingan Rosewood is shades of bright pinkish-brown to reddish or purple-brown with alternating dark markings, sometimes tobacco, and is clearly demarcated from the sapwood which is yellow or creamy white.

San Domingan Rosewood grain is generally straight to slightly wavy and the wood has a medium to fine texture with a low lustre.
