Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Where do you supply?
    • We are a trade supplier with customers mainly based across the UK & Republic of Ireland (and associated offshore islands such as the Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Hebrides & Orkney Islands). We can also supply goods for delivery to customers across Europe.
    • US or Canada: Our product liability insurance does not cover any sales or supplies to North America. We would therefore require someone in Europe to deal with us on your behalf.
  2. Is there a minimum order quantity/value?
    • Some products can be supplied in single items as part of a mixed order, while others may have a minimum order quantity per item of a pallet or more - particularly if they are made specially to order.
    • For most stock items the minimum order value is typically £300 mixed goods, plus packaging, freight & VAT.
    • From time to time clearance items may be listed on a particular product's web page, which will include the details of any minimum quantity or if it is to be sold as a single batch lot.
  3. Can I use all of the sheet?
    • Unless it has been cut to its final size and/or shape specifically for you, it is standard industry practice to allow a 10mm trim around all edges of a panel.
    • Panel manufacturers are allowed a standard tolerance of ±5mm from the stated panel size and squareness. Trimming the panel ensures all corners of the panel are square to each other.
    • This practice also removes any scuffing, corner rounding, removal of edge sealing, chips or loss of surface covering, etc. that can sometimes occur around the panel edges at any point during transit. Such marks are to be expected and not classed as damage.
  4. Is plywood suitable for use as an internal door / kitchen door / wardrobe door?
    • It is always recommended that any installations which include wood products for use as doors allow for movement due to moisture changes within their design because there is no standard for flatness.
    • Plywoods are used extensively as internal doors, kitchen doors, bedroom wardrobe doors, etc. However, the layered construction can result in the various layers of wood taking up and releasing moisture at varying degrees, causing such doors to move or deform with changes in ambient moisture content - particularly when force-dried via central heating or the like and/or if they have not been fully protected using a suitable coating.
    • This scenario can be exacerbated when using impregnated products such as FR plywood.
  5. Can you deliver to site?
    • It is possible to deliver to site, and many of our products have been delivered to residential addresses.
    • NB: Unless you advise us at the time of your order of any physical or time restrictions that make such a delivery process unfeasible, your goods may be delivered via high-sided articulated vehicles at any time during normal working hours of 09:00-17:00 (See our Terms & Conditions for details).
    • Mechanised offloading using a Moffett forklift attached to the delivery vehicle is possible to most areas mainland UK at an additional charge. Actual cost can be confirmed at the time of order.
  6. How quickly can I expect to receive the goods if they are in stock?
    • Deliveries of stock items can normally be made to most parts of mainland UK within 2-3 days.
    • Deliveries to postal areas BT, GY, HS, JE, ZE, and some areas within AB, IV, PA, KW are normally made within 3-4 days.
    • Deliveries within County Dublin are typically within 3-4 days, while the rest of Eire is normally within 4-5 days.
    • Transit times to mainland Europe are typically 1-2 weeks dependent upon details.
    • Expedited freight can often be arranged to shortcut these times at an additional premium.
  7. Can you offer cutting, machining/drilling, profiling, polishing, or other processing?
    • We can offer any form of further processing you may require, e.g. we offer all manner of sizing, cutting, profiling, profiling, CNC machining and can prefinish products with paint, lacquer, oil, wax.
  8. Can you send me a brochure/price list?
    • We are a trade supplier rather than retailer. This website is designed to act as our online brochure, to help ensure the information you are provided with is as up-to-date as possible. Any amendments are uploaded as quickly as possible.
    • It is not feasible or cost-effective to prepare a generic price list, as this would be inaccurate for most enquiries we receive. This is because we offer a vast range of options and many of our products are produced to a customer's specific requirements.
  9. Can I use some of your images on my own website or brochures??
    • All images shown on this website, on printed materials, or sent via email (including specially prepared illustrative images) are subject to copyright. We will consider selling our images for single use on your website or brochure on a case-by-case basis.
    • In the event we are not the copyright owner of a particular image used on our website we will seek permission from the owner of the images on your behalf and forward their details so you can liaise with them directly.
    • Please be advised that the use of any images without the direct permission of the copyright holder can prove very costly.

  11. How can I ensure my wood supplies are from sustainable sources?
    • All our products are manufactured within Western Europe unless specifically requested by a customer, and are covered by the EUTR (European Union Timber Regulations), which ensure the materials are sustainably & legally sourced.
    • For additional reassurance ask for goods available under credible independent third party certification schemes, such as the PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) or FSC®(Forest Stewardship Council).
    • Winwood Products has been assessed under both schemes and has obtained the following chain of custody certificates:

  12. What are the industry certifications FSC® and PEFC, and what do they mean?
    • FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) is a global forest accreditation body offering independent third party verification of forest management and timber products. It does not conduct the certification itself, but instead accredits certification bodies to undertake the assessment of forests, timber and timber product processing operations on its behalf and licences them to register organisations to the FSC® schemes.
    • PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is a framework for the mutual recognition of credible national or regional forest certification schemes which have been developed to meet internationally recognised requirements for sustainable forest management. It is a single-issue certification scheme, which is why its claims concern only sustainable forest management and the wood or fibre chain from the forest to the consumer.
    • Under both schemes, the verification of the chain of custody of wood is required for all processing companies along the wood chain and the trading companies, which break down already labelled packages of products.
  13. Can you offer sustainable goods with FSC® or PEFC Certification?
